A last call for Friday, and a message from Gary

Greetings.

(Was there a touch a Spring in the air this week?)

This is the last reminder for Friday's gathering.

Gary says;

"Hello, all - I'm truly sad that I can't make it to reunion drinks on Friday, but we'll be at our public school auction, bidding hundreds of dollars for child-made tabletops and such.

I hope everyone has a good time and that photos and updates on everyone's lives are posted here afterward.

I've enjoyed running into Iris at the opera and lunching with Laura. And mazel tov, Jenny, on the tots.

As for me, I've been busy writing for Parade, Parents, Scholastic, HarperCollins, Men's Health, Disney's Family.com, and others over the past several months but have been lured out of the home office to take a full-time job with grandparents.com. I start there next week and I hope that you'll all refer the grandparents in your lives to the site to check it out. (Also: If any of you know actual grandparents who are also freelance writers, please send them to me: gary@aya.yale.edu. I need grand-writers!) To see what else I've been working on, to purchase my children's books, and to see photos of the kids - still adorable, last time I checked - please stop by freelancedad.com and say hello.

Best - Gary

Jennifer Rose says,

"My husband and I are adopting Sam, 2/12 years old, from Thailand. We expect to be invited to travel by the Thai adoption board to pick him up in 5 to 8 months.
Very best wishes to everyone, and hope to see you on 4/4/08! Thanks Ourania."

An invitation, travel pics, a puppy, an email, and bells.

Greetings, fellow alumni.

Hope all is well with everyone. I would have posted sooner, but the schedules at The Hill have been most demanding.

First, some old news. For those of you who may have missed the article, our Publisher Emerita, Charlotte Gemmel was mentioned in the New York Times. Click around on the links for her quote. This has Social Studies written all over it. (You'll need to copy and paste links, posted in these updates, into a browser window - not all operating systems will register the hyperlink.)

Also, you may have read about the massive layoffs at MMH, recently mentioned in another Times article (irresponsibly edited.) The layoffs had occurred months prior to the article's appearance, during fiscal year 2007. The employees affected were in marketing, sales and finance, nationwide. The day the story broke was an eerily quiet one on the 21st floor.

And now, on to the updates. Huzzah!

An invitation conceived and designed by Ourania.

Happy New Year

Greetings all.

Good news! On November 27th, Jenny Blanc brought two beautiful twins into the world. Congratulations, Jenny!

A photo is posted. Please follow the link below, (courtesy of Jane Ito) to view the album.

Your alumni blogger is suffering from holiday whiplash. Where did the time go? It was a hectic season for me, but I hope you all had peaceful and happy holidays - religious, pagan, commercial, or otherwise.

Wishing us health and happiness for 2008,

Brandon
